THIS WORKSHOP WILL PREPARE STUDENTS FOR AUDITIONS IN ALL CURRENT MUSICAL THEATER GENRES. THEY WILL OBTAIN THE KNOWLEDGE, MATERIALS AND CONFIDENCE TO NAVIGATE THROUGH EACH AUDITION IN THIS EVER CHANGING WORLD OF MUSICAL THEATER!
BEFORE BOOTCAMP: Students will choose a show from the list provided to prepare a mock audition and find at least 2 songs for approval. Once a song approved, if it is not already arranged in the proper cut, we will arrange a 16 and 32 bar cut to perform. *Sheri Sanders has incredible audition arrangements at www.musicnotes.com/audition
IN EACH SESSION STUDENTS WILL:
Learn how to cut a proper 16/32 bar (short/long) audition arrangement.
Perform their mock audition for the class and we will adjust and play with it in different ways.
Learn how to 'live' physically in the genre and style of the music they have chosen.
Use and learn different vocal techniques and to sound like the style of music they have chosen.
Learn the history behind the genre and time of when their song was written or was 'written in the style of' in order to be more clear and knowledgeable of how to perform it with authenticity and integrity.
Learn how to effectively communicate the feel and roadmap of your song with the piano player so you are able to give the best performance you can!
Learn by observing others students get feedback and adjustments and by giving their own input (all coming from a place of non judgment of course) and by asking questions.
Leave with a great audition cut and the tools to nail any audition!
IN THIS MASTERCLASS WE WILL TALK ABOUT HOW MUSICAL THEATER HAS CHANGED THROUGH THE YEARS AND HOW TO KEEP UP WITH THE CURRENT TRENDS. STUDENTS WILL LEARN TIPS AND SKILLS TO ENTER THE AUDITION ROOM AND SHINE WITH THEIR PERFORMANCE!

Discuss the changes in musical theater through out time.
Learn the different types of audition songs you should always have in your book.
Utilize tips to keep an organized and clean audition book.
Learn the most effective ways to clearly mark your music for the accompanist.
Learn how to make a proper 16/32 bar (short/long) cut of an audition song.
Learn how to choose the best audition song for the show AND you.
Learn the best way to communicate the feel and roadmap of your audition song to the piano player so you can perform your best.
Learn tips on dressing appropriately for different kinds of auditions.
Learn how to get a great head shot and design a professional resume.
Ask any industry related questions they may have!
If there is time a few students may perform a mock audition for adjustments and feedback.
